Staying safe
Do
- View the property in person, or over a live video call, before paying anything.
- Keep conversations and agreements on FellowFlats.
- Verify your student email and look for verified badges.
- Trust your instincts and report anything that feels off.
Avoid
- Send a deposit or rent before you have seen the place and met the landlord.
- Pay by gift card, wire transfer, or crypto. These are classic scam methods.
- Move conversations to email or messaging apps that have no record.
- Share banking details, SIN, or ID copies in chat.
